Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:45 to 5:45 or 6:15 pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Implement created academic lessons, primarily reading and math, for students grades K-5 aligned with the MMSD curriculum
Facilitate planned enrichment activities. (eg. cooking lessons, cooperative games, music, art, etc.)
Implement social and emotional activities
Carry out community based service projects. (eg. raking, gardening, etc.)
Receive guidance and support from Teacher Leads to implement the academic, enrichment and social/emotional activities
Communicate and provide weekly updates of student progress to families.
Maintain daily record keeping. (eg. attendance, academic progress, parent communication, etc.)
Collaborate weekly with after-school Trail to Success Staff (i.e. Teacher Leads and Teacher Aides)
Participate in monthly meetings with the Trail to Success Committee to review data and give/receive feedback aligned with the mission
Engage in a quarterly review of job performance

Qualifications:


Prior experience working with children of diverse backgrounds required
Experience supervising students.
Must have proven dependability, teamwork, leadership skills, flexibility and enthusiasm to participate in all aspects of program
Bilingual Spanish preferred

Purpose of Position:


Facilitate academic and enrichment activities for elementary-age children after school at High Ridge Trail facility in Fitchburg. Supervise indoor and outdoor activities and field trips. Work as a team with other program staff to carry out responsibilities. Interact with parents as needed.

Trail to Success Program Description:


Trail to Success is an off-campus academic and family support resource center that exists to strengthen school-community relationships in the High Ridge Trail neighborhood by increasing accessibility to academic and enrichment programming for students and families. Because the High Ridge Trail neighborhood is isolated from Chávez Elementary, this center will provide easy access for students and families through facilitation of after school programming, family empowerment events and community engagement opportunities

School year cycle

2017-2018 estimated start date: 09/18/17 - estimated end date: 06/01/18

Hours of work: Tuesdays-Thursdays, 3:45 pm - 5:45 pm (until 6:15 pm 1 day)

Working Conditions:


This position will be located at an off site MMSD school location. The duties will be both indoor and outdoor.

Physical Requirements:


This facility is an off site MMSD location that has stairs and requires mobility. In addition, the staff member is expected to participate with students in outdoor games.
