The Department of Population Health Sciences (PHS), in the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH), is a large and complex department with a variety of sub-units housed in various locations both on and off campus. The Department's expenditures (associated with research, instructional, and outreach related funding) are approximately $20,000,000 annually.

This is a key position for the leadership and administration of PHS, and serves directly under the direction of the Department Chair. This position is the central link between the Chair's office and others, both within and outside the Department including SMPH, the University, and many State, national, and international organizations.

The Chair's Assistant is responsible for managing processes associated with paid faculty appointments and reappointments as well as unpaid/honorary appointments. (PHS currently maintains more than 100 such unpaid/volunteer appointments.) This position manages faculty recruitment activities and leads administrative coordination of promotion (including tenure packets), and track change processes. This position ensures that the Department fulfills and complies with the requirements of the University's Faculty Policies and Procedures (FPP) and divisional committees' guidelines in these areas.

This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Chair, coordinating Department and Executive Committee (EC) meetings as well as departmental seminars, and performing various other administrative tasks for the Department.

This position also serves as the Department's Website Coordinator, managing the layout, appearance, and overall content of the website. This requires a thorough understanding of the website viewers' demographics and the information they will likely be seeking.

Full time position. Overtime may be required depending on needs of the Chair/Department.

Minimum $13.70
